Instructions
In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
Add flour, salt, evaporated milk, egg, and melted butter. Mix until a dough forms.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5 minutes. Place it in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour.
Roll out the dough and cut it into squares.
Heat oil to 375°F (190°C) and fry the beignets until golden brown.
Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm.
Notes
For a richer flavor, add a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the dough.
